From a Basic Will to a Comprehensive Estate Plan

I already had a Will, so I believed my affairs were in order. However, when I approached Kin Assist, I realised that my existing Will was quite brief and did not adequately address several important aspects of my estate.

The team took the time to understand my family circumstances, review my properties, bank accounts, investments and other assets, and discuss how I wanted each of them to be dealt with.

They helped me develop a much more detailed and comprehensive Will, with clearly defined beneficiaries, provisions for my jointly owned and other properties, the appointment of an executor, and safeguards to ensure that my wishes are properly documented.

What I appreciated most was their attention to detail. They identified matters I had not previously considered and explained everything patiently, ensuring that the final document reflected my intentions.

I now have greater peace of mind knowing that my estate planning has been approached thoughtfully and that my family will have clear instructions to follow when the time comes.

Getting Our Old Physical Shares Back on Track

My wife and I had some old physical share certificates that had been sitting in our files for years. Between our everyday responsibilities and not knowing where to begin, we kept putting the matter off.

We knew the shares might still have value, but the process of getting them converted into demat form seemed complicated. Our children encouraged us to look into it, but we needed someone who could guide us through the paperwork and follow-ups.

We first heard about Kin Assist through a friend who shared their details in our residential society's WhatsApp group. We're so glad we reached out!

The Kin Assist team helped us understand the process, organise the necessary documents and initiate the required follow-ups. They were patient, approachable and took the time to explain everything in a way we could understand.

For us, it wasn't just about the shares. It was about finally getting started on something we had been postponing for years, with someone dependable to guide us along the way. Having that support has been a real relief for our family.

Beyond Creating a Trust — Helping Us Put It into Action

We had been considering setting up a private family trust for some time and had spoken to a few firms about it. While they could help us create the Trust Deed, we realised that the responsibility of actually transferring our properties, investments and other assets into the trust would largely fall on us.

That was precisely the part we were concerned about. With different assets, institutions, documentation requirements and formalities involved, we didn't want to be left figuring everything out on our own after the trust was created.

What made us choose Kin Assist was their approach. They helped us work through the structure of our private trust, understand how our assets would be dealt with, and plan the practical steps needed to transfer them.

The trust has now been established, and Kin Assist continues to work with us on the asset transfers, coordinating documentation, institutional requirements and follow-ups. The process is still underway, but having someone take responsibility for coordinating the different moving parts has made a real difference.

For us, Kin Assist's value lies in going beyond advice and documentation. They are helping us put our estate plan into practice, rather than leaving us with a Trust Deed and a long list of things to do ourselves.

Someone My Parents Can Depend On

My parents live in Delhi, while I work in Bengaluru. As they've grown older, even routine things like visiting the bank, sorting out pension-related paperwork or following up with government offices have become increasingly difficult for them.

I used to manage whatever I could over the phone, but there were always things that required someone to be physically present. Taking time off and travelling to Delhi for every little issue simply wasn't practical.

A colleague recommended Kin Assist, and what appealed to me was that they offered practical, on-ground support rather than just advice. They helped my parents organise their documents, understand the requirements and coordinate the necessary visits and follow-ups.

My parents are comfortable dealing with them, and I appreciate being kept informed about what's happening. It's reassuring to know that they have someone dependable to turn to when I'm not around.

For families like ours, this kind of support makes a genuine difference. It isn't always about a major financial or legal matter. Sometimes, it's simply about making everyday responsibilities easier for our parents.

Handling Family Matters in India, While Living Abroad

After my father passed away, my mother and I were left with several things to sort out in India — bank accounts, investments, property documents and the various formalities involved in transferring assets.

I've been living in the UK for over a decade, and although I wanted to take care of everything myself, I quickly realised how difficult it would be to coordinate matters remotely. Every institution seemed to have its own requirements, and there was always another document or follow-up needed.

We came across Kin Assist while looking for someone who could help us manage the process in India. What stood out was their willingness to look at the entire situation rather than treating each issue as a separate assignment.

They helped us organise the documents, identify the next steps and coordinate with the relevant institutions. They also kept me updated, which meant I didn't have to constantly chase different people for information.

Some matters are still being worked through, but having one point of contact in India has made the process much more manageable. It has allowed me to focus on supporting my mother instead of spending all my time trying to figure out paperwork from thousands of miles away.
